In the 1890s, she not only acted as assistant to some of the great designers, but also produced items on her own.
A 6“ vase in flowing Art Nouveau style
The two items we show are cauldron shaped vase with all the formality of the Victorian era, and an Art Nouveau vase with all the flowing designs more associated with the period dominated by designers such as Mucha, Erté and Beardsley. Ethel Beard was still working for Doultons in the 1930s. Below is Ethel Beard's 'EB' Doulton signature mark.
